save money with DIY excavation
What a hassle–we thought we’d get to dig this week, but the bureaucracy has thwarted our plans. Since the kids get such a big kick out of coming out to the place, they were as impatient as we are. So, we figured, why not let them get a head start on the digging?
We equipped them with hand shovels and set them loose. They wasted no time getting started.

So, it took a little while, but they did move some dirt:

But, they got lazy on me fast. Excavator Mike left some equipment laying around. Maybe that would speed things up a little.

My daughter wasn’t even a little bit afraid of that big machine. Neither was my son actually.

Okay, just so I don’t get angry comments, of course the kids didn’t do any excavation, at least not in quantities of more than a couple dozen tablespoons of dirt. I just sat them in the equipment for photos. (Sorry if that spoils the illusion for anyone, but I don’t want to get outraged comments from people who think I’m actually making my kids excavate for my foundation.)
Excavator Mike was too smart to leave the keys in it anyway.

Those cabs looks pretty plush for regular earth movers - running delux models on linear ranch?

Dear Sir,
I suggest that you reconsider your methods. Please look at http://www.aap.org/policy/00661.html and reconsider.
Sincerely,
