nothing much

There has been very little progress in the past two weeks. A few framing details remain before the drywallers can hang the sheet rock. The insulation had a few hot days to dry, but then it rained, and water came through some holes in the roof, so the insulation in a few spots absorbed significant water. Not many spots though, and it didn’t come uninstalled either. So that just needs some drying time.

The inspector has cleared everything now except the holes in the roof that need repairing. Builder Chad says the roofers will be back out to fix that and to shingle the back porch roof this week.

Electrical service is not yet installed, but the poles are in that bring it back from the street. These run a long the west property line. I have pics, but they aren’t handy, so I’ll upload them and update this once I get to it. The ground is so wet, I don’t think they can bury the line from the pole to the house for a few days anyhow.

The basement windows aren’t installed (they’re one of the last things to go in), so the weekend rain (something like 10 inches in 48 hours) dumped huge amounts of water in my basement. That has to get pumped out, but there’s not really any damage resulting from it or anything. None of the sheet rock got wet or damaged as far as I can tell, so the rain was more of a nuisance.

The ground got really soft and muddy, so in a way I’m glad trucks aren’t driving around on it this week. I got my truck stuck on Tuesday night when we went out to clean up some debris lying around the site.

Anyway, the sheet rock ought to go on next week. Then stuff should start happening.
