hardwood floors complete

Well, the hardwood floors aren’t 100% complete, but they are about 95%. The cabinet installers can now come at least, and that’s the important part. All that remains is a couple strips need to be ripped down and applied to little gaps here and there. Finishing touches if you will.

Now we get some real cool floor photos. Hey, hardwood floors are very important to me–the last house we had was built in 1940, and had the most outstandingly beautiful clear oak flooring throughout. That grade of wood isn’t even really available today–there was not a single knot fleck ro burl anywhere. We had it refinished when we bought the house and it made the rooms positively glow in reflected sunlight. I’m convinced I’ll never have a house without hardwood floor in it. You shouldn’t either.

While sweeping up thte considerable sawdust from this work, I uncovered this bracket for the saircase handrail. Brass! Not in my house, no way. We are doing brushed nickel hardware everywhere, so this brass is not welcome.
