a break in the action

For now, nothing much is going on at the job site. We had some meetings with the cabinet salesman, and he came out and measured, and drew the layout on our floor with crayon. We met with the builder and decided some details, like doing the back screen porch in cedar, and exactly where the vanity cabinets are, and a few miscellaneous things like that.

The big one was that I upgraded to a “90% efficient” furnace for a few hundred bucks. I have yet to make the determination on the airconditioning unit, but I’m considering an upgrade there too.

We also went with real French doors (freedom doors?!?) in the dining room, even though builder Chad suggested a setup with one door fixed in place. His logic: “how often do you open them both up? Maybe 1% of the time.” My logic: My wife has wanted French doors for years, why get something that’s almost what you want in your dream home?
