custom home ++ that's a big block o' concrete 07/03/2003

I'd like to thank Eddie for the title of today's episode.
The front and back porches are poured! They look great too, with a broom finish that will keep them from being slick in the rain. Our front porch is 60 feet long by 8 feet 3 inches deep. At 4 inches thick, that's 6 yards of concrete (Thanks to Cooter for the correction).
Besides that, there's some additional work done on framing details inside, and the big noticeable item for today is the roof over the front porch being almost complete. Big progress.

I've been waiting for the concrete porches for a while, so let's look those over first.

And now some of the inside work they did.

Now let's have a look at that roof.

Correction on your concrete. That is 165 cu/ft and a little over 6 cu/yds.
Love this idea you have for documenting all of this construction. I am building this summer as well in Minnesota. We haven't started digging yet, but intend to prior to Aug-1.
I'd be interested to know how our construction cost compare to yours in Kansas. If you get time, make contact via e-mail so we can discuss.
