custom home ++ second story man 06/21/2003

« Previous entry: a rainy day || Next entry: second floor framing »

Apologies to Upton Sinclair for the title. The north, east, and south walls of the second story are now framed, sided, and standing with windows installed. This thing looks like a house now (a house without a roof on it, but a house none the less). I was really surprised how visible it is from the streets to the east and south. And now you can see the decorative relief on the front of the house, looking more or less like it will look except for the finish. The first floor will have the same detail framing the doorway, but that's not installed yet because the porch isn't poured.

Greetings! I've been following your build for quite some time as I just went through my home build. (I found your site years ago from a link at the LED museum....) Anyway, I thought your home was going to be ICF not framed. Did I miss something in one of the archives regarding this? I am really interested in that tech and was hoping for an excellent photo-essay from you (not to say that this ISN'T an excellent photo-essay :)

Anyway, the work looks very solid and I'd say you have an excellent crew on hand. Hope your're not getting into the monsoons that we're having here on the east coast!
